Cyclist or Volunteer
BE A CYCLIST
Cyclists will be riding tandem bicycles. To participate, one tandem rider must be a breast cancer survivor, and the other tandem rider may be a friend, family member or someone who is personally connected to the survivor.

The journey covers 44 days with stops in both major cities and small towns across the United States. Projected start date is July 11, 2003, with the ride concluding on August 24, 2003. See the Route and Schedule section for further details.

The following provisions will be provided by the Bike4BreastCancer, Inc. organization.

  • Tandem bicycle, all necessary maintenance and replacement bicycle parts and equipment
  • Support vehicles to lead and follow riders with registered medical staff on board
  • Transfer of rider's personal items to each destination along the route
  • Motor home accommodations for each night's stay at a predetermined campsite location
  • Nutritious, well balanced meals, snacks and beverages for the duration of the ride
  • Event T-Shirts

    There are several requirements that must be met by those who are considering this endurance challenge:

  • Completed application filed with organization
  • Physician's consent form
  • Regimented training and biking experience
  • Waiver of Responsibility Agreement
  • Letter of Commitment from participant
  • Lifetime membership fee of $250.00
  • Personal profile and digital photograph
  • Solicit local sponsorship for trip related expenses ($5,000.00 minimum)
  • Each cyclist is responsible for his/her transportation to and from start-finish point

    BE A VOLUNTEER
    There are many instances when a breast cancer survivor or someone closely associated with a survivor would like to get involved to support the cause. Even if you are not able to be a cyclist, there are several methods by which you can contribute to the success of this cross-country event. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate and staff events in each of the destination cities on the route. Events may be as varied as raffles, celebrity events, or possibly concerts. Any level of commitment will be accepted.

  • Setup and cleanup
